About

Lake Springs Recreation Area is one of the most popular day-use parks on J. Strom Thurmond Lake, a 70,000-acre reservoir with over 1,000 miles of shoreline located just twenty minutes west of Augusta, Georgia. This heavily wooded area features a mixed pine and hardwood forest that provides excellent summer shade and fall color, situated at an elevation of 345 feet above sea level. The park offers outstanding opportunities for boating, water skiing, swimming, fishing, hiking, and picnicking. Wildlife is abundant, with visitors regularly spotting southern bald eagles, migratory waterfowl, wild turkeys, and whitetail deer. Lake Springs provides access to excellent fishing for largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, and striped bass, as well as numerous hiking trails including the 1.8-mile Lake Springs Loop and connections to the scenic 27-mile Bartram Trail.
