Set in a quiet forest, in an old homestead, Kid Valley Campground offers a convenient base for sightseeing, hiking, and biking the Mt. St. Helens area. The park is located close to fishing opportunities at nearby lakes and the famous Toutle River. Winter activities include hunting, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling in the nearby area, including the Toutle state forest, with 35,000 acres open to snowmobiling. The campground is adjacent to the Toutle River and a few miles from the Green River, both of which have recovered from the volcanic mudflows and offer great salmon and steelhead fishing. Elk viewing is popular on the road to Mount St. Helens, and hunting in the nearby units is also available. The campground has forested sites surrounding a large grassy play area, a bathhouse with hot showers, and a covered picnic area. Firewood is available for purchase, and campfires may be prohibited during times of extreme fire danger.
