About

Island Park Recreation Area is a premier camping destination on Pine Flat Lake, a 20-mile-long reservoir with 67 miles of shoreline in the foothills of the central Sierra Nevada Mountains. Located at the western edge of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in Kings Canyon, the campground offers numerous sites plus two group areas and a day-use facility for boaters. The lake, formed in 1954 with the completion of Pine Flat Dam, serves as a recreation oasis for water enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Visitors can enjoy boating, jet skiing, and fishing for small and large-mouthed bass, spotted bass, and rainbow trout. The area is also home to wildlife including bobcats and red-tailed hawks, and features the accessible Blue Oak Trail for leisurely walks. Nearby attractions include whitewater rafting on the Kings River and scenic drives through Sierra National Forest and Kings Canyon National Park.
