About
The Huron-Manistee National Forests offer a variety of recreation opportunities, including biking, fishing, hiking, horse riding and camping, and hunting & shooting. Dogs are welcome on the forest, given that applicable rules are followed and proper etiquette is practiced. The forest service waives recreation fees at most day-use sites on lands managed by the agency. The 2026 dates for waived fees include Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, National Get Outdoors Day, Independence Day, Constitution Day, National Public Lands Day, Theodore Roosevelt's Birthday, and Veteran's Day. The forest is managed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service.
