Heart Bar Campground is nestled in the pine-covered mountains of San Bernardino National Forest at an elevation of 6,880 feet, offering a remote and secluded atmosphere while remaining relatively close to Big Bear Lake. The campground provides excellent access to some of southern California's premier backcountry recreation, including hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails such as the famed Santa Ana River Trail and the moderately difficult Wildhorse Creek Trail. Facilities include multiple single, double, and accessible campsites suitable for tent and RV camping, though no hookups are available. Each site is equipped with tables and campfire rings, and the campground provides accessible vault toilets, drinking water, and a nearby dump station. The mature pine trees offer some shade, though privacy is limited in certain areas. Beyond the extensive trail system and creek fishing opportunities nearby, visitors can explore Big Bear Lake and its adjoining town approximately 20 miles away, which offers water recreation, golf, shopping, and dining options.
