About

Located in Northern Colorado, on the west side of the Routt National Forest, the California Park/Black Mountain area is home to the Elkhead Mountains. The Flat Tops area is managed by the Yampa Ranger District, located in Yampa, Colorado, 27 miles south of Steamboat Springs. The area offers dispersed camping, hiking, biking, fishing, horse riding and camping, off-highway vehicles (OHV), picnicking, scenic drives, water activities, and winter sports. The recreation regions include the California Park/Black Mountain Area, Flat Tops Area, and Gore Range Area. The area is known for its scenic beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities.
