The Tonto National Forest offers a wide range of recreation opportunities, including biking, climbing and caving, fishing, hiking, horse riding and camping, hunting and shooting, off-highway vehicles, outdoor science and learning, and picnicking. The forest is also home to scenic drives and offers educational experiences, interpretive programs, and youth programs. Recreation Fee Dollars are invested in public safety, recreation site maintenance and improvements, educational experiences, and information wayside exhibits. The forest is open for recreation, but visitors are encouraged to check the Conditions Report and individual recreation site page for up-to-date information on trail and site status. The forest is managed to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors, with priority given to public safety on the ground over updating recreation site status on the web page.
