Friends Creek Conservation Area is a 621-acre conservation site located in Cisco, Illinois, featuring diverse habitats including two branches of Friends Creek, open meadows, and tall-grass prairie. The area offers three nature trails for visitors to explore its picturesque landscape, along with two pavilions, picnic areas, and a playground, making it ideal for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The site includes an on-site campground for overnight stays and provides access to fishing opportunities at nearby Clinton Lake, located just 8 miles north. History buffs can visit the historic Bethel School, a one-room schoolhouse built around 1890 that offers insight into early Macon County history. The conservation area is managed by the Macon County Conservation District and serves as both a recreational destination and an important natural habitat.
