About

Fort Frederick State Park offers family and youth group camping along the Potomac River. The park has 29 campsites with stone dust camping pads, picnic tables, fire rings, and lantern posts. Portable toilets are available in the campground from May to November, and a comfort station with flush toilets and rinse off stations is nearby. Potable water and a dumpster are located near the railroad tracks, about 3/5 of a mile from the campground. Tent camping is available from May to November, and self-contained camping units can camp year-round. Most campsites can be reserved from May to October, and unreserved sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is at 1 p.m. The park also allows third-party rental units, including RVs and trailers, with certain restrictions and requirements. Youth group campsites are available for organized groups from May to November, and can be reserved with a Maryland Department of Natural Resources Youth Group Pass.
