About

Fort Richardson State Park campground has 62 campsites located near Lost Creek and the restored buildings of the old fort. There are 37 sites with electric hookups, 4 with full hookups and the 5 equestrian campsites also have electric hookups. Cabin rentals and group camping are also available. The park features seven of the original (restored) buildings including the post hospital, officer’s quarters, a powder magazine, a morgue, a commissary, a guard house, and a bakery, which baked 600 loaves per day. There are also two replicas: officers’ and enlisted men’s barracks. The officers’ barrack houses the Interpretive Center. Outdoor recreation includes hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, swimming, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The park is located near Jacksboro, Texas, and offers a variety of amenities including drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station. Visitors can also enjoy a camp store, dining hall, picnic area, and playground. Each campsite has a table, fire ring, and grate.
