Effingham Methodist Campground
Springfield, Georgia
About
Since 1790, the Effingham County Campground has been the premier destination in south Georgia for Methodists to gather in honor of their Lord and Savior. This camp meeting, locally recognized as the oldest camp meeting in the United States, is held in July each year. Preaching, singing, and fellowship guide the six-day long journey under the summer sun. The campground hosts several year-round activities, including weddings, group reunions, and fall festivals, as well as activities for children such as an Easter egg hunt. The Effingham County Campground is operated by delegated Trustee representatives from each of the churches that serve together and are part of the Effingham County Methodist Campground Association, Inc. The Trustee body governs all activities, improvements, and financial decisions. The campground is a place where the heart is strangely warmed, and visitors are welcome to experience its history and holiness.
