Eel Creek Campground is a peaceful 51-site campground nestled within the Siuslaw National Forest, situated among coastal shrubbery on the edge of sandy dunes in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. The campground is divided into north and south loops, with most sites offering seclusion and privacy due to dense vegetation including rhododendrons and salal, while select sites (7, 8, 42, and 43) are perched directly on the dunes themselves. The area is renowned for its wind-sculpted sand dunes that tower up to 500 feet above sea level, creating a dramatic landscape perfect for hiking and wildlife viewing. The popular John Dellenback Dunes Trail offers a scenic 2.7-mile trek through conifer forests and open dunes to the Pacific Ocean beach. Amenities include flush toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, fire rings, and an amphitheater, with a campground host on-site. The campground is located 10 miles south of Reedsport, Oregon, and provides an excellent base for exploring the unique coastal dune ecosystem.
