East Dunes Campground is a 61-site campground located within the Siuslaw National Forest's Sand Lake Recreation Area, making it an ideal destination for off-road vehicle enthusiasts. The campground provides year-round access to nearly 1,100 acres of coastal sand dunes adjacent to the Pacific Ocean, with a dedicated sand dune playground for visitors. All sites feature paved parking aprons, and the campground offers essential amenities including drinking water, flush toilets, and campfire rings. The area experiences a cool marine climate with moderate winters. Beyond off-road vehicle riding, the nearby Sand Lake Estuary offers diverse recreational opportunities including fishing, swimming, crabbing, kayaking, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The 900-acre estuary in its near-natural state provides habitat for numerous waterfowl species, making it an excellent location for nature enthusiasts.
