Doris Campground is situated within the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, a 60,000-acre preserve in southwest Oklahoma near Lawton/Ft. Sill that protects mixed grass prairie, ancient granite mountains, and fresh water lakes and streams. The campground is best known for its roaming herds of bison, longhorn, and Rocky Mountain elk, and serves as a recreational hub for visitors exploring the refuge. Located along the shoreline of Quanah Parker Lake, Doris Campground offers excellent opportunities for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, wildlife photography, and bird watching. The campground features paved roads, centrally located shower and restroom facilities, and a dump station for RVs. Nearby attractions include Mount Scott, Prairie Dog Town, the Visitor Center, and the scenic Little Baldly trail, all within a short drive from the campground.
