About

The United States Congress designated the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness in 1978 and it now has a total of 943,648 acres. Spanning the Montana-Wyoming border on the Shoshone, Gallatin, and Custer National Forests, the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking, horseback riding, and climbing. The Shoshone National Forest offers many recreation opportunities, including camping, picnicking, and boating. The forest is home to a variety of wildlife, including elk, deer, and bear.
