About

DeMartin Backcountry Camp is a backcountry camp situated among mixed Sitka spruce and alder forest with few redwoods. It is a two- to three-mile hike from US 101. A backcountry permit is required for overnight camping. The camp has 10 campsites available, with a maximum of eight people per site. Campfires are restricted to designated fire rings, and up to 50 pounds of dead and downed wood per day per campsite may be collected within 1/4-mile of camp for campfire use only. The camp has composting pit toilets for human waste only and requires visitors to pack out all trash/garbage when leaving camp. Water is not available, and visitors must pack in drinking water. The camp is accessible via the Coastal Trail - DeMartin Section and DeMartin backcountry camp, which may require crossing the busy U.S. 101 highway. Visitors should use the parking on the east side of Highway 101 rather than parking at Wilson Creek Picnic Area.
