Council Group Campground is a scenic group camping facility located in the San Bernardino National Forest, northeast of San Bernardino in the Barton Flats area of the San Bernardino Mountains. Situated at an elevation of approximately 6,360 feet in a pine forest setting, the campground offers a perfect venue for large outdoor gatherings with capacity for up to 50 people and 13 vehicles. The location provides excellent access to the region's natural attractions, including nearby Jenks Lake for fishing and non-motorized boating, and the renowned Santa Ana River Trail, which is popular with hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. The Rio Monte Trail is also accessible from the campground, leading to panoramic views overlooking the Santa Ana River Valley. Visitors can enjoy fishing for rainbow trout, largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, and catfish at Jenks Lake or in the Santa Ana River. The campground is situated along the Rim of the World Scenic Byway and provides access to educational programs at the nearby Grayback Amphitheater during summer months.
