About

The Flambeau River State Forest offers two family campgrounds with reservable campsites, primitive canoe sites along the Flambeau River, an ADA-accessible yurt and backpacking opportunities. The campgrounds are located in a rustic setting with access to lakes, nature trails, and swimming areas. Visitors can enjoy canoeing, fishing, and hiking in the surrounding forest. The area is open for camping from April to December, depending on the campground. The forest also offers primitive camping and backpacking opportunities for those who want to immerse themselves in nature. The Elk Ridge Yurt is an ADA-accessible yurt that provides a unique camping experience for hunters and other visitors. The yurt is equipped with amenities such as a wood-burning stove, a fire ring, and a bear-proof food storage box. The forest is managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and offers a range of recreational activities for visitors to enjoy.
