About
The Carson National Forest offers a variety of recreation opportunities, including camping and cabins. The forest is divided into several recreation regions, each with its own unique features and attractions. The Abiquiu region offers breathtaking views of large landscapes in the Rio Chama Valley, while the Cabresto Canyon region is a popular area for camping and the main launch point into the Latir Peaks Wilderness. The Colorado Borderlands region is over 100,000 acres of rolling grassland surrounded by conifers, ponderosa and aspen stands. The El Rito region offers a large, forested landscape north of El Rito. Visitors can enjoy activities such as biking, fishing, hiking, horse riding and camping, off-highway vehicles, outdoor science and learning, picnicking, scenic drives, and winter sports.
