About

Chiriaco Summit, a desert landmark, has been family owned and operated since 1933. Founded by Joe Chiriaco, who settled in the area after working as a surveyor, the site initially featured a gas station and general store. With the construction of the aqueduct project and the establishment of the Desert Training Center in 1942, the area experienced significant growth. In 1945, Joe and Ruth Chiriaco established a memorial to General George S. Patton, and a museum was later built to honor the American hero. Today, Chiriaco Summit is a family-owned corporation with several family members involved in the business. The site features a range of facilities, including a Chevron gas station, food mart, restaurant, and gift shop, as well as the General Patton Memorial Museum. Visitors can also access the Southwest Travel Information Center, which provides comprehensive travel and tourist information for attractions in the Southwest.
