Chewacla State Park is a scenic campground located less than 3 miles off I-85 and less than 7 miles from the Auburn University campus. The park offers 31 modern campsites that can accommodate motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels up to 60 feet in length. The sites are arranged in two separate camp loops, each hosting a temperature-controlled bathhouse with showers and changing area, sinks with counter space, and toilets. The campsites themselves are gravel pads with water, sewage, electricity, and satellite television. The park is a perfect place to stay while visiting your kids on campus, or just a stopover between Montgomery and Atlanta. Chewacla offers a variety of pull-through sites to accommodate weary travelers, as well as back-in sites that provide more privacy. No matter the site, your primary view will be scenic, with trees and a private feel. The park also offers a dump station, firewood for sale, and a small store selling souvenirs, drinks, and snacks. Reservations are recommended and can be made up to 12 months in advance for out-of-state guests, and up to 13 months in advance for Alabama residents.
