Cheoah Point Campground is situated on a scenic peninsula of Lake Santeetlah in the hills of western North Carolina, within the expansive Nantahala National Forest. The campground features multiple open and wooded campsites nestled in a forest of mature hardwoods at an elevation of 1,760 feet, with many sites offering views overlooking the 2,800-acre lake. The surrounding landscape provides abundant recreational opportunities, including fishing for trout, walleye, bass, bream, and crappie, as well as boating, canoeing, jet skiing, and swimming. The area offers excellent hiking options, including the Wauchecha Bald Trail which connects to the famous Appalachian Trail, set within the 1.3 million acres of mountain terrain in the Nantahala National Forest. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is just a short distance away, making it an ideal day trip destination. The campground provides essential amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, and drinking water to ensure a comfortable camping experience.
