On the shores of secluded Lake Tillery, Carolina Forest is a gated residential community in the Uwharries. Surrounded by the Uwharrie National Forest and directly across the lake from Morrow Mountain State Park, the area is rich in hiking, biking, and riding trails and beautiful, pristine areas. Carolina Forest is conveniently located near world class golf courses, local potteries, the NC Zoo and many other attractions. Established in 1972, Carolina Forest includes 12.6 miles of roads and 1,120 lots nestled between the Uwharrie Mountains and Morrow Mountain State Park. The community has prospered and currently includes nearly 200 homes, with several new ones under construction. Approximately 250 people enjoy living here year round including young couples, families, and retirees. The community includes amenities for all ages, such as boat slips, a boat-launching facility, a swimming pool, and a clubhouse. A campground is located on one side of a small private lake owned by the Association. Nature trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas provide opportunities for association members to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Carolina Forest is nine miles from Troy and Albemarle and an hour away from major cities such as Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem. It is a wonderful place to live and enjoy nature in its fullest.
