The Campsite at Shield Ranch is a sustainably built ecologically diverse sanctuary located just 22 miles from downtown Austin. It embodies the commitment to conservation and offers an open-air pavilion, screened shelters, and miles of hiking trails. The Campsite strives to create an environment where all people feel welcome and can be their authentic selves. It provides facilities for Camp El Ranchito and nature immersion experiences for pre-registered community groups. The Campsite is not open to the general public for recreation, weddings, family reunions, or individual short-term rentals. The site features an open-air pavilion with a commercial kitchen, restrooms, and offices, as well as eleven screened shelters that sleep 74 people on cots. The Campsite has received recognition for its sustainable design and has been featured in Texas Architect magazine.
