Camp Childress is a 175-acre campground located just southeast of Joplin, Missouri, at the intersection of Highways V and 49. It has been making camp memories since 1961 and is now a community resource used by various organizations. The property includes a climate-controlled dining hall, commercial kitchen, pool, staff housing, Tipi Village, and a well-stocked trout pond. Camp Childress is perfect for church camps, sports camps, youth groups, fraternal and service organizations, schools, businesses, and community service and non-profit groups. It offers a healthy environment for growth and welcomes families, youth, adults, and service agencies. The mission is to preserve the camp as an outdoor reserve, prepare young adults for ethical and moral choices, build humility and compassion, strengthen character, and prepare youth for leadership.
