Blanco River Group Campground is a secluded and quiet spot located four miles off U.S. Highway 84, on Forest Road 656, about 15 miles southeast of Pagosa Springs, on the Blanco River. It is a convenient stopping point between the towns of Chama, N.M., and Pagosa Springs, Colo. The campground offers one group site that can accommodate up to 100 people, with several single campsites that must be reserved at the same time for group use. The area is surrounded by ponderosa pine and cottonwoods, offering shade, but it can be quite warm during the summer months. The Blanco River can be accessed from the campground, offering good fishing for stocked trout. Anglers can cast their lines on the lightly fished waterway, and there are also volleyball courts available within the campground. Campers must bring their own net and ball. The campground is a great place for family and friends to gather, with ample space for tents and large RVs, and four parking spurs suitable for large RVs. The area is also home to several large ponderosa pines, offering a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
