Located in Northern Colorado, on the west side of the Routt National Forest, the California Park/Black Mountain area is home to the Elkhead Mountains. The area offers various recreational opportunities, including dispersed camping, biking, fishing, hiking, horse riding and camping, hunting and shooting, off-highway vehicles, picnicking, scenic drives, water activities, and winter sports. The Flat Tops area is managed by the Yampa Ranger District, located in Yampa, Colorado, 27 miles south of Steamboat Springs. The area is known for its scenic beauty and offers opportunities for recreation and exploration.
