Lake Wales Ridge State Forest consists of four separate tracts that contain outstanding examples of naturally functioning ecosystems. The forest is managed for multiple uses, including outdoor recreation, protection of endangered and threatened species, and maintenance of natural communities. Lake Wales Ridge State Forest is a unique, beautiful place where many of Florida's rare and endangered plants and animals flourish. The forest is located in Polk County, Florida, and offers various recreational activities such as camping, hiking, fishing, and horseback riding. Visitors can access the forest through various trails and roads, and there are also picnic pavilions available for day use reservations. The forest is home to several wildlife management areas, including Walk in Water WMA and Arbuckle WMA, which offer opportunities for hunting and other outdoor activities.
