The National Forests in Texas provide a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities, including camping, swimming, and boating. Developed recreation areas offer camping experiences ranging from highly developed to primitive, with facilities such as tent pads, picnic tables, parking spurs for trailers, lantern posts, grills, potable water, and toilets. A day-use fee is charged at highly developed areas with swimming or boating facilities. The Forest Service proposes to retain at least 80% of the money collected at recreation sites to operate, maintain, and improve these sites. The public is invited to comment on proposed recreation fee changes, which will help fund recreation staff and improve amenities at Coffeemill and East Lake Crockett recreation areas.
