Battle Run Campground is a large waterfront facility located just south of Summersville, West Virginia, on the shores of the state's largest lake. Situated on Summersville Lake, known for its striking sandstone cliffs and 60 miles of scenic shoreline, the campground offers an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts. The 2,790-acre lake provides excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, swimming, scuba diving, and fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, panfish, and catfish. Beyond water activities, visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, rock climbing, and whitewater rafting on the world-class Gauley River. The surrounding region features dense forests of maple, oak, hickory, beech, and birch trees, with abundant wildlife including black bear, deer, grouse, and turkey. The campground is also conveniently positioned near the New River Gorge, one of the country's most popular rock climbing destinations with over 1,400 established climbs.
