Bass Lake State Forest Campground is a rustic campground located near Bass Lake, offering 18 campsites for tents and small trailers. The campground is situated 15.5 miles northwest of Newberry via M-123 North, County Road 407 and Carlson Camp Road. The 145-acre lake is a popular spot for fishing (pike, bass, and panfish) and paddle sports. The campground is open all year, but the campground and seasonal roads are not plowed. Visitors can access the lake via a gravel road or stairs from the campground parking area. The campground provides stunning river and lakefront settings, perfect for fishing, boating, and paddling. There are vault toilets, potable water available from a hand-pump well, and no electrical available. Overnight fees and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay, and one camping unit and six people are allowed per site.
