This rustic campground, located near Bass Lake, offers 18 campsites for tents and small trailers. Sites range from shaded by trees to open fields perfect for stargazing. Bass Lake is just a short walk away, accessible via a gravel road or stairs from the campground parking area. The 145-acre lake is a popular spot for fishing (pike, bass, and panfish) and paddle sports. The campground is located 15.5 miles northwest of Newberry via M-123 North, County Road 407 and Carlson Camp Road. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay, and a Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into the state park and forest campgrounds. The campground offers vault toilets, potable water from a hand-pump well, and no electrical hookups. Overnight fees and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground. The campground is open all year, but the campground and seasonal roads are not plowed during winter.
