Avery Lake State Forest Campground is a secluded, rustic campground nestled among hardwoods on Avery Lake. It offers stunning river and lakefront settings, perfect for fishing, boating, and paddling. The campground has 16 sites for tent and small trailer use, 10 of which can accommodate a 40-foot long vehicle or trailer, and three walk-in, tent-only sites. The campground is located 9 miles southwest of Atlanta via County Road 487 and Avery Lake Road. It has vault toilets, potable water available from a hand-pump well, and no electrical hookups. Overnight fees and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay, and one camping unit and six people are allowed per site.
