Akeley City Park & Campground is located on the Lake Country Scenic Byway at the junction of State Highway 34 and 64 in northern Minnesota, approximately 2 hours east of Fargo, ND, 2.5 hours west of Duluth, MN, and 3.5 hours north of Minneapolis/St. Paul. The campground sits just off the Heartland Trail and within walking distance to downtown Akeley, offering easy access to gas, churches, cafes, and groceries. The area is known as the Birthplace of Paul Bunyan and features the iconic Paul Bunyan statue. With hundreds of lakes within 10 miles, the campground provides excellent opportunities for fishing, boating, 4-wheeling, hiking, and biking. The facility includes lakeside RV and tent sites with modern amenities such as showers, flush restrooms, a dump station, public boat access, a fishing pier, and a fish cleaning house.
